Isopropyl Alcohol
Isopropyl alcohol is great for cleaning electronics because alcohol dries faster than most liquids. A large bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol can be purchased for incredibly cheap. When added to a bottle that is 70% alcohol and 30% water, it creates a great cleaning solution that can be discovered. However, do not spray the alcohol solution directly on the screen or keyboard. Instead, spray a small amount on a cloth or paper towel and use that to wipe down the area.
Use Distilled Water Over Tap Water
When making your alcohol solution, it is highly recommended you use distilled water over tap water. The reason is that distilled water does not conduct electricity, as all the impurities have been removed. Therefore, using distilled water for your disinfectant is going to lower your risk of shorting out your office electronics.
Keep Microfiber Cloths On Hand
Paper towels can scratch and damage screens. They also leave traces of paper that can get stuck to screens. The tiny fibers of microfiber are much softer and safer on screens, creating less coarse, harsh contact that will keep your electronics in pristine working order for longer periods. Microfiber cloths also tend to last longer than paper towels, so even disposable microfiber will be more economic than paper towels.
Use Wipes, Not Sprays
Though this solution can get expensive, Lysol or alcohol wipes are going to be a much safer alternative over your traditional disinfectant sprays. The pooling of chemicals can drip into ports and openings, potentially running the risk of shorting out the electronics. So, if you can afford it, use wipes, not sprays.
Consider Placing Covers Over Electronic Devices
There will always be somewhat of a risk when applying cleaning supplies to electronics. Plastic coverings can be an ideal way to mitigate damage to the equipment while still maintaining a clean, disinfected environment. If electronics have a plastic covering, they can be safely sprayed with disinfectants, allowing more coverage of the disinfectant with less risk to your electronic device.
Use Compressed Air Dusters On Keypads
Keyboards, keypads, and anything with lots of buttons creates lots of nooks and crannies for food residue to hide in. Consider UV Light Equipment

New technologies are being used, though, that utilize UV-C light to disinfect the environment. Some come in the form of air purifiers that suck air particles into an area lighted by UV-C lights, where the air is purified of bacteria and viruses. Some are simple LED bars that provide a dual function of lighting a workspace while also disinfecting it.
There is a wide array of disinfectants and disinfecting products that can be used for office electronics. Remember, though, that when disinfecting an office area, make sure that the office electronics are off, and remember to use a gentle touch. This will ensure that the products are not damaged in the disinfection process, allowing your office to be a beacon of health and well-being.
